Grade 3 - Multiplication - Standard Algorithm

In this video, we'll revisit the standard or traditional multiplication algorithm, a method many of us learned in school. While it's an efficient way to multiply, it's important that students first develop a strong conceptual understanding of multiplication through other strategies.

We'll walk through the steps of multiplying using this algorithm, explaining why certain steps, like carrying numbers, are done, and how place value plays a crucial role. Although this method is effective, it’s best introduced after students have grasped the underlying concepts of multiplication to ensure they understand the "why" behind the procedure.
